Shipping Process

We will begin shipping pre-order plants in mid-late April.

Plant Shipping Information

When We Ship Plants

Weather Based Shipping: We ship from Indiana & Illinois - because we're located in Midwest, we must wait until mid-late April to ship our plants. Otherwise cold temperatures could harm plants while in transit.

First Come First Serve: Plant Pre-Orders are processed in the order in which they are received based upon the order number.

Shipments to Southern States & Growing Zones: When possible - we prioritize orders to areas with earlier growing seasons than here in the Midwest. We typically start this process based on locations that are at temperatures capable to receive plants for outdoor planting.

We Ship Monday-Thursday:  All plant orders are processed Monday-Thursday to prevent live plants sitting in transit over the weekend.

Common Plant Order Inquires

Plant Carriers: Most plant orders are sent with UPS. Transit times are between 1-3 days.

PO Boxes: We DO NOT ship to PO Box addresses for plant orders. If one is listed as your shipping address, we will contact you for an alternate address.

Shipping Time: Due to the tender nature of spring plants, 3-day shipping is required. Once your order has shipped, it usually takes 1-3 business days for you to receive your plant order. Most plant orders require Expedited Shipping, and we use UPS to fulfill these orders.

Separate Shipments: Depending on the volume of the order, your order may arrive in separate shipments. We have boxes that accommodate up to 4 plants or up to 8 plants. Each box sent will have it's own tracking number emailed to you. Please make note of your order tracking so that plants do not sit in boxes long after their arrival.

Delayed Shipping:  If there is going to be a delay in your order we will reach out to you via email, please be sure to check your junk folder for shipping updates. Please add shop@alsipnursery.com to your safe senders list.

Reasons for Possible Delays: Delays may occur due to our carriers experiencing unprecedented volume increases and limited employee availability due to the impacts of Covid-19.

Online Plant Availability

Grower Based Availability: When we have confirmed availability of our annuals, vegetables, and herb plants - they will be posted to our website. If you're looking for a plant on our website and don't see it, it's possible the plant is either out of stock or has not been posted yet. If you're local - we encourage you to view in-store stock as some items are not available online.

Plants Available to Order For Store Pick-Up: This year, we will not have Spring Annuals available for Store Pick-Up. They are available for Shipping only. Local customers should visit our stores for the BEST  and widest selection of plant items that may not be available online. Local customers may order houseplants and nursery items shown for Store Pick-Up or Local Delivery.

Plant Returns

Returns Due to Damage: We guarantee that your plants arrive in great condition. If a delay means your plant order was in transit too long, or experienced other damage, please email us right away at shop@alsipnursery.com with your order information and pictures of any damage. We will contact you to either replace or refund your order.

Please keep in mind some plant stress is normal from shipping travels. Please remove from packaging and water immediately upon arrival.

Change of Heart: We do not accept returns on plants due to change of heart. Due to their tender nature we would not be able to receive plants back in re-sellable condition. We urge online plant buyers to be certain of the order in which they are placing.

Do You Guarantee Your Plants? Guarantees depend on the plants purchased. See our Plant Guarantee here.

We package all our plant orders with the utmost care and attention. We wrap each plant in a paper sleeve and secure it at the base of the plant with a rubber band, making sure that the soil is secure and packed tightly in the pot with the sleeve wrapped around the soil. We then place each plant in one of our specially designed plant trays that include a cardboard insert that secures the pot in the tray, making sure the plant won't move or fall out in transit. Next, we place the trays in our plant shipping boxes that include holes on each side to allow the plant to receive air. Most plants require expedited shipping and will arrive 1-3 days after shipment.

*If there is an issue with your order, please contact us at shop@alsipnursery.com with pictures of your plants on the day of arrival.*
